The 45th Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show had a collision of two very different generations: classics and tuners.
There was an abundance of hot rods and classic vehicles with bright lights reflecting off their lustrous velvety smooth paint jobs, as well as a large section of imports that was conveyed in a much different light. After walking through a short pathway at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, from March 13-15, there was a dimly lit underground atmosphere where all the import vehicles and vendors were set up.
The low thuds of the subwoofers echoed the hall shaking the floor that hundreds of modded imports were parked on. Flashing lights and lasers were dancing all over the facility to the beat of the music. The music and lights led the way to the stage in the centre of the building showcasing girls strutting their stuff down a catwalk in the bikini contest with a crowd cheering each girl on eagerly.
The mix of imports from Asia and Europe presented an assortment of car clubs that were scattered throughout the floor which each claimed their own territory. Some of the larger clubs proudly represented were Jdmrides.ca by Teknotik, Fukenricen, Lick Your Lips, and Ruff Ryders Canada.
Kicker sponsored the import section and had a large travel bus present displaying their products and giving out free giveaways to passer-by’s. There were many other vendors scattered along the radius of the building, such as Shinzo Werks, a company that sells car decals and apparel, plus a lot of smaller individual retailers like garage16.ca were there selling aftermarket parts and making a name for their companies. Local Toronto publication Performance Auto and Sound was located in the centre of the action, selling back issues and giving visitors the chance to meet with some models from the magazine.
To get a general feel for the atmosphere of the show take a look at the pictures by Wladimir Charun and Rayman Hasnoo of the vehicles on display.
